WHAT WE BELIEVE

The Lord's My Shepherd I Shall Not Want,
He Makes Me To Lie Down In Green Pastures
he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:

PSALM 23

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient. He is the Creator, Sustainer, and Ruler of everything that has been made.

Hebrews 4:12, John 16:5-16, Genesis 1:1-2, Genesis 1:26-27, John 3:16

We believe in the deity and full humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the Son of God. We acknowledge his virgin birth, his sinless life, and his miracles. He offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross and arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven and he is seated at the right hand of the Father and will return to earth in power and glory for judgment.

2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 Corinthians 15:3-5, Ephesians 2:8-9, Hebrews 7:24-27, John 10:7-10, Ephesians 1:22-23

We believe in the deity of the Holy Spirit. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. We believe in the indwelling of the Holy Spirit who provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He has gifted every believer with a spiritual gift for the purpose of building God’s kingdom.

Ephesians 1:13-21, Galatians 5:22-23

We believe the Bible to be the inerrant Word of God. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. “All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for doctrine, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

2 Timothy 3:16-17, Psalm 119:9-11

“Christ is the Head of the body made up of His people - that is, His Church - which He began” Colossians 1:18. Christ is the recognized head of the Church, not any person, group, or religious organization. We believe every local Church should be self-governing and independent. While we recognize the value of associating and cooperating with other Churches of Christ, we seek God’s will for our congregation and not brotherhood conformity that goes against God’s will. Our leaders make prayerful decisions that determine our own strategy, structure, and style.

Colossians 1:18

We believe that salvation is by grace through faith, and faith without work is dead. Salvation is God’s free gift to us but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. We believe that God has ordained water baptism as an important part of becoming a Christian, signifying the death, burial, and resurrection into newness of life through washing away of our sins.

Acts 17:30, Acts 8:37, Acts 22:16, John 12:26, Mark 12:30, 2 Corinthians 5:18-20, 1 Peter 4:10-11, Acts 2:42-47

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated is hell. To be eternally in union with God is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.
